How women deal with hair loss?

by site editor Joanne Kleine. hair loss, hair loss treatment
It can be very agonizing for a man to lose his hair and go bald. Balding is associated with the progress of age, loss of physical strength, the sensation of not being attractive to the opposite sex any longer. This normally happens when a man enters his first mid-life crisis, thereby exacerbating the cause.

But for bald women, this agony is taken to yet another level. Scientific studies prove that bald women suffer more emotional and psychological hurting than bald men do. And those psychological effects are more severe than what men generally go through when they lose their hair.

In the above mentioned studies men and women who suffered from hair loss responded to questionnaires which were made by psychologists to see the difference in emotional stress either sex suffered. These results proved that for women their outward show was far more important than for men, and they had a deep psychological investment in the way they looked. The numbers varied a lot when it came to see that it was far more important for women to see how others perceived them, and this has nothing to do with vanity. So they reacted more aggressively when they started to going bald.
Women, especially the balding ones, feel that their hair is the glory and these studies proved how conscious they get about the matter of hair loss. They experienced a loss of self-respect; they lost self esteem when they start going bald.

Hair loss occurs in both sexes. But with men, there is a general pattern when and when they start going bald, the problem is generally documented. Therefore, nobody is really astonished when a man starts getting bald at a certain age. It’s different for a man since he will have some support or be humored for going bald but women who are going bald don’t have that type of support system of friends and family, and they feel that their situation is not being paid heed to. This is because the pattern of hair loss in women is more diffused and it doesn’t always begin at a certain point in a woman’s age. That’s the psychological effects of hair loss in women are underestimated.

It is easier for men to cope with their hair loss than for women, who even try to cover the fact that they are going bald. Or they develop a hair style that hides the affected area of balding. They tend to spend a lot of energy on other aspects of their physical appearance in order to divert attention from their balding head.

There are special advises given to women who are going bald such as talking to a certified dermatologist in order to find out the root cause of her hair loss. She should than learn the options she has for treating her state, these options obviously being based on the diagnosis and research of her dermatologist. After considering the different measures and their costs, she should then decide upon a course of action. One of those options will help her restore her hair by a doctor with experience in surgical hair restoration.
